HomeMy WebLinkAbout13234RESOLUTION NO. 13234 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,844,009 TO HW HOUSTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, FOR PROJECT NO. 15-007 PUEBLO CITY HALL INTERIOR REHABILITATION AND REMODEL PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, Proposals for Project 15-007, Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel Project have been received and examined; and, WHEREAS, the proposal of HW Houston Construction Company of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. A contract for Project 15-007, Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel Project be, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $1,844,009. SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. Funds for said Project shall be paid from Capital Project PL1306. SECTION 4. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of the Resolution and Contract to effectuate the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Steven Meier, Director of Planning and Community Development SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,844,009 TO HW HOUSTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, FOR PROJECT NO. 15-007 PUEBLO CITY HALL INTERIOR REHABILITATION AND REMODEL PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: Attached is the Bid Summary for the Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel Project. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council awarded a construction contract for the Pueblo Memorial Hall: Expansion and Renovation on April 9, 2012. BACKGROUND: The City of Pueblo has solicited bids for the Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel Project. HW Houston Construction Company from Pueblo has been selected as the most qualified and responsive bidder. The construction project consists of the rehabilitation of the First Floor and remodel of the Second and Basement Floors of City Hall. The Base Bid was selected for the recommendation to award. Construction is anticipated to begin in May 2015 and should be completed in a maximum of 180 days. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,844,009 for the Project will be paid from Capital Project PL1306. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: No Board or Commission recommendation. The City Manager and City Council have been briefed on the progress of the Project. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: The City Manager and City Council have been briefed on the progress of the Project. ALTERNATIVES: Denial of this Resolution will result in cancellation of the Project. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution. Attachments: Bid Opening Summary
