HomeMy WebLinkAbout13166 RESOLUTION NO. 13166 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION – JOINT CITY-COUNTY YOUTH APPOINTMENT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: Gary Weaver, Floyd Jaramillo, Troy Ard, and Ann Batey are hereby appointed to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - Joint City/County Appointment for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2017. SECTION 2: Ryan Madic is hereby appointed to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - Joint City/County Youth Appointment for a one-year term expiring December 31, 2015. SECTION 3: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN SUBJECT: RELATIONS COMMISSION – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENTS AND YOUTH APPOINTMENT SUMMARY: This Resolution ratifies the joint City-County appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission. Applications were reviewed at the PACOG meeting held on January 22, 2015 to appoint four members to the Human Relations Commission/Joint City-County appointments, Gary Weaver, Floyd Jaramillo, Troy Ard, Ann Batey for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2017 and one Joint City-County Youth appointment, Ryan Madic, for a one-year term expiring on December 31, 2015. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission Joint City-County Appointments and Youth appointment are made on an annual basis selecting st individuals to serve terms expiring on December 31 of each year. BACKGROUND: Due to the term expiration of members: Gary Weaver, Juan Fleites, Floyd Jaramillo and Troy Ard, there are four terms to be filled on the Pueblo Human Relations Commission Joint City-County appointments and due to the term expiration of the Joint City-County Youth Appointment held by Ryan Madic, there is one appointment to be filled for a term expiring on December 31, 2015. Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain on November 9, 2014 and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee. Applications were received from the following individuals: Gary Weaver Incumbent, Resident of the County of Pueblo  Floyd Jaramillo Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Troy Ard Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Abel Laeke New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Ann Batey New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Seenyana Gibson New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Ryan Madic (Youth) Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo  FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: NONE STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: NONE ALTERNATIVES: City Council in agreement with the County Commissioners could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended in order to receive additional applications for consideration.
