A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A QUALIFIED PERSON TO FILL
THE VACANCY CREATED IN COUNCIL DISTRICT FOUR BY
THE RESIGNATION OF SANDRA K. DAFF
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Pursuant to Section 2-6 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo, John Cordova
is hereby appointed to fill the vacancy created in Council District Four by the resignation of
Sandra K. Daff. This appointment shall expire on December 31, 2015 when the vacancy shall
be filled by the results of the November 3, 2105 General Election according to law and until his
or her successor is qualified.
SECTION 2.
The officers and the staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all
acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution which are necessary or appropriate to
implement this Resolution.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective at 12:00 o’clock noon on Friday, December 26,
2014.

SUMMARY:
This Resolution appoints a qualified individual to fill the vacancy on City Council, created by the
resignation of Sandra K. Daff, Council District 4 Representative.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None
BACKGROUND:
On Monday, October 20, 2014 Sandra K. Daff submitted her letter of resignation from her
position on the Pueblo City Council effective October 31, 2014.
Per Section 2-6 of the City Charter, any vacancy in an elective office shall be filled by
appointment of the Council. Any person appointed to fill a vacancy in an elective office shall
have the qualifications required of persons regularly elected and shall hold the office until the
next general municipal election when the vacancy shall be filled by election according to law
and until his successor is qualified.

STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Letters of interest and resumes were accepted from individuals wishing to be considered for
appointment to the District 4 Council position. Eight applications were received. Members of
Council each submitted five names, and out of those 8 names, five candidates were chosen to
receive individual interviews. Interviews of all five finalists were held on Monday, December 8,
2014.

Approve the Resolution.
