HomeMy WebLinkAbout13059 RESOLUTION NO. 13059 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO MEMORIAL AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Pueblo Memorial Airport Advisory Committee to complete three-year terms expiring September 30, 2016: Dave Cardinal D. Lee Hall, Jr. Mike Carter Larry Ohrdorf SECTION 2: The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Pueblo Memorial Airport Advisory Committee for three-year terms expiring September 30, 2017: Ray Seybold Rod Slyhoff Louis Spera Paulette Stuart SECTION 3: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Daff and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Office of the City Clerk FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO MEMORIAL AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE SUMMARY: Should City Council appoint a total of eight members to the Pueblo Memorial Airport Advisory Committee for three-year terms? PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Memorial Airport Advisory Committee are made on a regular basis th selecting individuals to serve three-year terms expiring on September 30 of each year. BACKGROUND: This Resolution appoints a total of eight members to the Pueblo Memorial Airport Advisory Committee. Due to the September 30, 2013 term expirations of Committee Members Dave Cardinal, D. Lee Hall, Jr., Mike Carter and Merle Manweiler, there are four three-year appointments to be filled for terms expiring September 30, 2016. Incumbents Dave Cardinal, D. Lee Hall, Jr. and Mike Carter have each indicated that they DO wish to be considered for re-appointment. In 2013, Committee Member Merle Manweiler missed three consecutive meetings (March 19, 2013 April 16, 2013 and May 21, 2013), and per the City’s attendance policy (Resolution No. 2644), if any member of a board or commission appointed by the City Council is absent from three (3) consecutive regular meetings of the board or commission, such office is automatically declared vacant; therefore, Mr. Manweiler’s seat was declared vacant in June of 2013. Due to the September 30, 2014 term expirations of Committee Members Ray Seybold, Kenneth Conyers, Rod Slyhoff and Louis Spera there are four three-year appointments to be filled for terms expiring on September 30, 2017. Incumbents Ray Seybold, Rod Slyhoff and Louis Spera have indicated that they DO wish to be considered for re-appointment, and incumbent Kenneth Conyers has indicated that he DOES NOT wish to be considered for re-appointment. Following several advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain and notices posted on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this Advisory Committee, new applications were received from the following individuals Larry Ohrdorf and Paulette Stuart. Council members Ed Brown and Sandy Daff are the interview panel for this Committee. They have reviewed applications and recommend that the six incumbents and two new applicants be appointed. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This is a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable for this Resolution STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished in order to receive additional applications for consideration RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Attachments: Applications for Appointment from Dave Cardinal, D.
