A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE BOARD OF
HEALTH - CITY APPOINTMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that:
SECTION 1
Ed Brown is hereby appointed to the Board of Health for a five-year term
expiring July 1, 2019.
SECTION 2
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts
consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described
herein.
SECTION 3
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval.

SUBJECT:
APPOINTMENT
SUMMARY:
This Resolution appoints a member to the Board of Health for a five-year term expiring July 1, 2019.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Appointments to the Board of Health are made on an annual basis selecting individuals to serve five-

year terms expiring on July 1 of each year.
BACKGROUND:
The City-County Board of Health is comprised of 5 members, two appointed by the City Council, two
appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and one that is a joint City-County appointment.
Currently, the City appointments to the Board of Health are Dr. Michael Nerenberg and Dr. Richard
Martinez. Dr. Martinez’s term expires on July 1, 2014 and he has indicated that he does not wish to
be considered for reappointment.
Pueblo Chieftain
Following an advertisement published in the on May 25, 2014 and an
announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee,
applications were received from the following individuals:
Dr. Louis Balizet New, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Councilman Ed Brown New, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Dr. Christine Nevin-Woods, Executive Director of the Health Department has requested that one
Council appointment be a member of the City Council and would support amending the IGA to make
this a permanent City Council member appointment.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
None
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
None
ALTERNATIVES:
Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment
process be extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished in order
to receive additional applications for consideration
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the Resolution.
