HomeMy WebLinkAbout13028 RESOLUTION NO. 13028 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION (CSAC) – JOINT CITY- COUNTY APPOINTMENTS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission for terms expiring April 30, 2018. Catherine Valenzuela Barbara Bernard Julianne White David Potter SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Daff and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES SUBJECT: ADVISORY COMMISSION (CSAC) – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENTS SUMMARY: This Resolution ratifies the joint City-County appointments to the Community Services Advisory Commission. Applications were reviewed following the PACOG meeting held on July 24, 2014. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Joint City/County appointments to the Community Services Advisory Commission are made on th an annual basis selecting individuals to serve staggered four-year terms expiring on April 30 of each year. Resolutions to ratify the joint appointments are passed by each entity. BACKGROUND: Due to the term expiration of members Cathy Valenzuela, Ellen Cooney, Julianne White and David Nick Potter, there are four seats to fill on the Community Services Advisory Commission for four-year terms expiring April 30, 2018. Ms. Cooney does not wish to be considered for re-appointment. Ms. Valenzuela, Ms. White and Mr. Potter do wish to be considered for re-appointment. Following and advertisement published in the Pueblo Chieftain on Sunday, April 6, 2014 and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: Catherine Valenzuela – Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo Julianne M.T. White – Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo David Nick Potter – Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo Barbara Bernard – New, Resident of the County of Pueblo Joseph Casey Connors – New, Resident of the City of Pueblo FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: The Community Services Advisory Commission studies the needs of the community in the areas of health and human services, recreation, arts and culture, environmental/conservation and economic development; reviews and analyzes proposals that are submitted to the Pueblo County and City of Pueblo Partnership during the annual Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including conducting interviews and performing site visits of agencies submitting proposals; makes final recommendations to the City and County officials for funding consideration on an annual basis, or as needed in an emergency situation; and works on other issues and projects as assigned to them by the Public Officials. ALTERNATIVES: City Council in agreement with the County Commissioners could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended in order to receive additional applications for consideration.
