HomeMy WebLinkAbout13020RESOLUTION NO. 13020 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $91,453 TO KOLBE STRIPING, INC., AND SETTING FORTH $20,000 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK FOR PROJECT NO. 14-041 BIKE LANES – GOODNIGHT/CLEVELAND AND ELIZABETH AND GREENWOOD AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT NO. 14-041 Bike Lanes – Goodnight/Cleveland and Elizabeth and Greenwood have been received and examined, and; WHEREAS, the proposal of Kolbe Striping, Inc., of Castle Rock, Colorado was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. A contract for PROJECT NO. 14-041 Bike Lanes – Goodnight/Cleveland and Elizabeth and Greenwood is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $91,453. SECTION 2. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $20,000 SECTION 3. Funds for said project shall be from Project Code DT1304 – Goodnight/Elizabeth Bike Lanes. SECTION 4. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 5. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution and the attached contract/agreement to effectuate the transactions described therein. SECTION 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Daff and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Earl Wilkinson, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $91,453 TO KOLBE STRIPING, INC., AND SETTING FORTH $20,000 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK FOR PROJECT NO. 14-041 BIKE LANES – GOODNIGHT/CLEVELAND AND ELIZABETH AND GREENWOOD AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: Attached is the Bid Summary for the Bike Lanes – Goodnight/Cleveland and Elizabeth/Greenwood project. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: On August 26, 2013 City Council passed and approved Ordinance No. 8620 which created Project No. DT1304 – Goodnight/Elizabeth Bike Lanes. BACKGROUND: This project will continue the City’s effort to expand the bike network and encourage bicycling as a form of transportation by installing on-street bike lanes on Goodnight Avenue between City Park and Abriendo Avenue and on Elizabeth Street/Greenwood south of US HWY 50. The work was competitively bid through the City’s Purchasing Department, and a copy of the bid summary is attached. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds for the Project will be paid out of DT1304 – Goodnight/Elizabeth Bike Lanes. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Project is supported by the Old Historic Northside Neighborhood Association, the Aberdeen Neighborhood and Pueblo Active Community Environments (PACE); an advocacy group for the expansion of the on-street bike network. A neighborhood meeting for the project was conducted in March of 2012. ALTERNATIVES: Denial of this Resolution will result in cancellation of the project. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of this Resolution.
