HomeMy WebLinkAbout13013RESOLUTION NO. 13013 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: The following individual is hereby appointed to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority to complete a five-year term expiring February 1, 2016. Vacated due to the resignation of Ken White. Megan Murillo SECTION 2 The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3 This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Daff and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PUEBLO URBAN SUBJECT: RENEWAL AUTHORITY SUMMARY: This Resolution is for City Council to appoint a member to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority to complete a five-year term expiring on February 1, 2016, vacated due to the resignation of Ken White. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority are made on an annual basis selecting st individuals to serve five-year terms expiring on February 1 of each year. BACKGROUND: Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain on May 25, 2014 and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee. Applications were received from the following individuals: Megan Murillo -- New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Cherie Sather -- New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Mike Ferris -- New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Mr. Ferris is also a member of the Liquor Board and his term expires on August 1, 2017. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Resolution 12728 implemented an interview process for the applicants of the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority. Council members Chris Kaufman and Sandra Daff reviewed applications, interviewed the three candidates by telephone on Thursday June 26, 2014 and are recommending Megan Murillo for appointment. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: NONE ALTERNATIVES: Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished in order to receive additional applications for consideration. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. Attachments: Applications for Megan Murillo, Cherie Sather and Mike Ferris.
