HomeMy WebLinkAbout13003 RESOLUTION NO. 13003 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 The following individual is hereby appointed to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - City Appointment to complete a three-year term expiring December 31, 2015: Rebecca Wasil SECTION 2 The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3 This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Daff and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE HUMAN RELATIONS SUBJECT: COMMISSION SUMMARY: This Resolution shall appoint a member to the Human Relations Commission – City appointment to complete a three-year term expiring December 31, 2015. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Human Relations Commission are made on an annual basis selecting st individuals to serve three-year terms expiring on December 31 of each year. BACKGROUND: Due to the resignation of Member Hector Huertas, there is one appointment on the Human Relations Commission – City appointment to complete the three-year term expiring December 31, 2015. On March 24, 2014, two appointments were made to the Human Relations Commission, leaving one vacancy. Following these appointments, additional applications were received from the following individuals to complete the term expiring December 31, 2015: Rebecca Wasil New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Robert Long New, Resident of the County of Pueblo  Robert Cooper New, Resident of the County of Pueblo  Arthur Benfield New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Resolution 12728 implemented an interview process for the applicants of the Pueblo Human Relations Commission. Council members Steve Nawrocki and Sandy Daff reviewed applications, interviewed the candidates, and recommend Rebecca Wasil for the City appointment STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished in order to receive additional applications for consideration.
