A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS
SUBJECT:
SUMMARY:
This Resolution is for City Council to appoint members to the Board of Elections for a four-year
term expiring June 1, 2018.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Appointments to the Board of Elections are made on an annual basis selecting individuals to
st
serve staggered four-year terms expiring on June 1 of each year.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the term expiration of Incumbent Member Steven Rodriguez there is one appointment on
the Board of Elections. Mr. Rodriguez would like to be considered for reappointment.
Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain on April 27, 2014 and an
announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee. One
new application was received:
Steven Rodriguez - Incumbent, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Donald DiFatta - New, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Mr. DiFatta is also a member of the Liquor Board and his term expires on August 1, 2016.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
None
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
The Election Board recommends to Council such rules and regulations as necessary for the
conduct of election for approval, and provides for ballots and sample ballots, appointment,
removal, compensation, and terms of judges of elections, absentee voting, determination of the
winner in case of tie vote, canvass of returns, and issuance of appropriate certificates.
ALTERNATIVES:
Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be
extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished in order to receive
additional applications for consideration.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the Resolution.

RESOLUTION NO. 12972
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE
BOARD OF ELECTIONS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1:
is hereby appointed to the Board of Elections for a
Donald DiFatta
four-year term expiring June 1, 2018.
SECTION 2
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval.
