HomeMy WebLinkAbout12921 RESOLUTION NO. 12921 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION -CITY APPOINTMENTS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1. The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - City Appointments for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2016: Kirk Cree Brian Mater SECTION 2 The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3 This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Daff and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN SUBJECT: RELATIONS COMMISSION – CITY APPOINTMENTS SUMMARY: Should City Council appoint two members to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission for three- year terms expiring December 31, 2016? PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission are made on an annual basis for st staggered three-year terms. Current terms expire on December 31 of each year. BACKGROUND Due to the term expirations of Incumbent Commission Members Allison Ernst and Maria Fox there are two 3-year terms to fill on the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - City Appointments expiring December 31, 2016 and due to the resignation of commission member Hector Huertas, there is one term to complete a 3-year term expiring on December 31, 2015. Ms. Ernst and Ms. Fox do not wish to be considered for re-appointment. Following a Public Notice published in the Pueblo Chieftain on Sunday October 20, 2013 and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: Kirk Cree – New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Brian Mater – New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  One vacancy remains to complete a three-year term expiring December 31, 2015. The application status will remain open until an applicant is selected. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is a volunteer committee, and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Resolution 12728 implemented an interview process for the applicants of the Pueblo Human Relations Commission City-Appointment. Council members Steve Nawrocki and Sandy Daff reviewed applications, interviewed the candidates, and recommend Kirk Cree and Brian Mater for appointments. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: If appointments are not made, there will be a total of three City appointment vacancies. Remove from agenda and readvertise for additional applications.
