Ms. Daff,
In 1967, prominent and well- respected leaders within the Pueblo community approached the Colorado State Fair with
the idea of celebrating and recognizing the rich, cultural wealth of the Hispanic community within the state of Colorado.
The first Fiesta Day was held in 1967 with a Fiesta Queen selected who acts as an ambassador and role model to
Hispanics throughout the state. In 1978, the Pueblo Fiesta Day Committee was formed. Since then, the committee has
undergone many changes and transformations to become the current Colorado State Fair Fiesta Committee.
The CSF Fiesta Committee's mission is "To promote and celebrate the Hispanic culture with the community at large while
providing educational opportunities and scholarships for young, Hispanic students." Through our four annual fundraiser
events, we strive to accomplish this mission. Our Scholarship Showcase is an opportunity for Latino bands throughout
Colorado to showcase their talent and audition to play Fiesta Day at the Colorado State Fair. The Colorado State Fair
Fiesta Pageant selects an educated and ambitious young woman as ambassador to promote the Hispanic culture. Noche
de Fiesta is our biggest annual fundraiser that celebrates our culture and provides the resources for the annual
scholarships to our Fiesta Court. The Fiesta Day Parade kicks -off the biggest attendance day for the Colorado State Fair
and is the biggest celebration of the Hispanic culture in the city of Pueblo.
For our current year, the CSF Fiesta Committee is looking to raise funds to cover costs for our Scholarship Showcase.
Currently, we are asking the City of Pueblo to sponsor our 2014 Scholarship Showcase at a dollar amount of $1,000. This
will cover equipment rental and sound system costs.
The CSF Fiesta Committee continues to appreciate the City of Pueblo's support of our committee and our events. Thank
you!
