AUTHORITY
ISSUE
Should City Council appoint a member to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority to complete
the five-year term expiring February 1, 2019 vacated by the resignation of Simon Tearpak?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Due to the resignation of newly appointed board member Simon Tearpak, there is one
appointment to be filled to complete a five-year term expiring February 1, 2019, on the
Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority.
Following an advertisement published in The Pueblo Chieftain on Sunday, January 26,
2014 and an announcement on the City Clerk’s web page seeking volunteers to serve on
this committee, applications were received from the following individuals:
Donald J. Banner, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Debra Mansell, Resident of the County of Pueblo
Cherie L. Sather, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Resolution 12728 implemented an interview process for the applicants of the Pueblo
Urban Renewal Authority. Council members Chris Kaufman and Sandra Daff reviewed
applications, interviewed the three candidates by telephone on Thursday February 27,
2014 and Friday February 28, 2014 and are recommending Donald J. Banner for
appointment.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This is a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation.
