TITLE:
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES
ACCOUNT IN THE 2013 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO YWCA IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,000 TO ASSIST IN PURCHASING MEAT AND FRESH PRODUCE FOR THE
YWCA FAMILY CRISIS SHELTER
ISSUE:
Should the City Council approve a Resolution authorizing the payment of $1,000 from
the Council Contingencies Account in the 2013 General Fund Budget to the YWCA to
assist in purchasing meat and fresh produce for the YWCA Family Crisis Shelter?
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of City Council Member Sandy Daff.
BACKGROUND:
The YWCA provides comprehensive services for domestic violence victims and their
children including safe, confidential shelter, advocacy, counseling, play therapy for
children, life-skills, training, case management and community referral for career
development, and additional services.
Economic stress combined with increased need in the community for services creates
significant challenges in meeting the needs of the families the YWCA serves. This
donation would assist in purchasing meat and fresh produce for the YWCA Family
Crisis Shelter so the families served may have nutritious meals.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $1,000 will be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2013 General Fund Budget to the YWCA.
