Ms. Sandy Daff
Pueblo City Council
Dear Ms. Daff,
In 2000 the Bessemer Historical Society was formed to save the historically significant archives
and artifacts of the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company. The Bessemer Historical Society consists of
the CF &I Archives and the Steelworks Museum. The nationally recognized CF &I Archives
includes: over 2 million documents, 100,000 photographs, 30,000 maps and drawings,
thousands of historic ledgers and more than 150 motion picture films.
The upper level of the building, which houses the archives, has windows which are desperately
in need of winterizing. Currently it's as if our archival collections are directly exposed to the
elements. The winterizing process will be a low -cost solution, consisting of caulking the
windows and covering them with clear plastic. Labor will be performed by community service
volunteers or city jail trustees. There are eighty -four windows. The cost is $500.
Would you please make a donation to help us with this expense?
