A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO
SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COLORADO
STATE HISTORICAL FUND FOR FUNDING FOR THE
PUEBLO CITY HALL INTERIOR REHABILITATION
PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY
COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME
WHEREAS, it is a goal of the Pueblo Comprehensive Development Plan to
preserve the archaeological, architectural, historical, and natural resources which
contribute to the character, individuality, and cultural heritage of Pueblo; and
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the 2001 City Hall and Memorial Hall Historic
Structural Assessment and Master Plan to preserve and restore City Hall and Memorial
Hall as important historic civic buildings for the City of Pueblo and State of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the City Hall and Memorial Hall Restoration, Phase 1 Project that
covered the repairs to the roof and gutters on both buildings was completed in 2011; and
WHEREAS, the of City Hall Phase 1 Remodel and Memorial Hall Renovation were
completed in 2013; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A grant application requesting $200,000 from the Colorado State Historical Fund
to assist in the repair and rehabilitation of office and public lobby spaces serving both
City Hall and Memorial Hall, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved and
strongly supported.
SECTION 2.
The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the
grant application in the name of and on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal
Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same.
SECTION 3.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all
acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures
described herein.
SECTION 4.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval.

Should the City Council approve the submittal of a grant application to the Colorado
State Historical Fund for funding related to the Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation
Project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
This Resolution approves the submittal of a grant application in the amount of $200,000
to the Colorado State Historical Fund to assist in funding the City Hall Interior
Rehabilitation Project. The Project will include the rehabilitation of the original historic
materials and concentrated to the more public spaces in City Hall. The scope of the
Project includes the rehabilitation of the original terrazzo and hardwood flooring, repair
and patch of the plaster ceiling and walls, rehabilitation of the marble columns and trim,
rehabilitation of the wood and glass storefront casework, removal of the metal stair to
vaults no longer in use, repair two other metal ladders, and the assessment of the front
entry pocket doors. This grant will be part of the Phase II Remodel of City Hall.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total rehabilitation project cost is estimated to be $324,200 including a $200,000
grant request from the Colorado State Historical Fund and local matching funds of
$124,200. The City’s local match will be provided from remaining funds in the City Hall
Remodel Phase 1 Project.
