HomeMy WebLinkAbout12807 RESOLUTION NO. 12807 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION (CSAC) – JOINT CITY/COUNTY APPOINTMENTS WHEREAS, there are (10) vacancies to be filled on the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County appointments to complete various four-year terms expiring April 30, 2014, April 30, 2015, April 30, 2016, and April 30, 2017; and WHEREAS, following a lengthy recruitment process, a total of ten (10) applications were received, NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The following applicants are hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County Appointments to complete four-year terms expiring April 30, 2014: Cathy Valenzuela to complete the term expiring April 30, 2014 Ellen Cooney to complete the term expiring April 30, 2014; SECTION 2: The following applicants are hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County Appointments to complete four-year terms expiring April 30, 2015: Kate Shafer to complete the term expiring April 30, 2015 Barbara Vidmar to complete the term expiring April 30, 2015 Cynthia Fuentes to complete the term expiring April 30, 2015 Terry Baughman to complete the term expiring April 30, 2015 SECTION 3: The following applicants are hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County Appointments to complete four-year terms expiring April 30, 2016: P. Michael Voute to complete the term expiring April 30, 2016 SECTION 4: The following applicants are hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County Appointments to complete four-year terms expiring April 30, 2017: Jim Stuart to complete the term expiring April 30, 2017 Erik Bergethon to complete the term expiring April 30, 2017 Rondall Cothran to complete the term expiring April 30, 2017 SECTION 5: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution. City and County Directors of Housing and Human Services conducted a recruitment process seeking volunteers to serve on this committee. Advertisements were placed in the Pueblo Chieftain on November 25, 2012; February 18, 2013 and July 22, 2013. Notices were also placed on the City and County websites and government cable channels. A total of ten applications were received. BACKGROUND The Community Services Advisory Commission studies the needs of the community in the areas of health and human services, recreation, arts and culture, environmental/conservation and economic development; reviews and analyzes proposals that are submitted to the Pueblo County and City of Pueblo Partnership during the annual Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including conducting interviews and performing site visits of agencies submitting proposals; makes final recommendations to the City and County officials for funding consideration on an annual basis, or as needed in an emergency situation; and works on other issues and projects as assigned to them by the Public Officials. FINANCIAL IMPACT This is a volunteer committee, and members serve without compensation.
