HomeMy WebLinkAbout08637ORDINANCE NO. 8637 AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING AN INCREASE IN FUNDING TO THE COLORADO PREVENTION PARTNERSHIP FOR SUCCESS PROJECT PD1207 WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo previously approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Pueblo and Crossroads Turning Points, Inc. (“Crossroads”) relating to the Colorado Prevention Partnership for Success (“CPPS”) Grant on September 24, 2012; and WHEREAS, the Pueblo Police Department will exhaust its allocated funding for the fiscal year October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013; and WHEREAS, a Colorado Incentive Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has been tendered to fund the Colorado Prevention Partnership for Success (CPPS) in the amount of $30,000 for the grant period October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014, to Crossroads Turning Point, Inc. for disbursement to the City of Pueblo Police Department; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. A budget increase in the amount of $30,000 is hereby budgeted and appropriated to Project No. PD1207 from the CPPS Grant for the period of October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014. SECTION2. The grant funds in Project No. 1207 shall only be expended and used pursuant to the Memorandum of Agreement dated September 24, 20012 between the City of Pueblo and Crossroads Turning Points, Inc. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Ordinance and the Grant Agreement to effectuate the transactions described therein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval. RECOMMENDATION The Department recommends approval of this Ordinance. BACKGROUND City Council previously approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Pueblo and Crossroads Turning Points, Inc. (“Crossroads”) relating to the Colorado Prevention Partnership for Success (“CPPS”) Grant on September 24, 2012. The Agreement allows the City of Pueblo, through its Police Department, to partner with Crossroads to promote the prevention of substance abuse in Pueblo, particularly underage drinking and binge drinking. Crossroads acts as the fiscal agent for the grant funds. The Agreement provides that Crossroads shall pay up to $62,400 annually to the City of Pueblo Police Department to reimburse it for its underage drinking enforcement efforts. From October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013, the Police Department received $44,400 in grant funds. This Ordinance budgets and appropriates an amount of $30,000 to Project PD1207 for the period October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014. FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no City match required for this grant.
