A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES
ACCOUNT IN THE 2013 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE CSU-PUEBLO
FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FOR THE “ON THE MOVE” CAMPAIGN
ISSUE:
Should the City Council approve a Resolution authorizing payment in the amount of
$10,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2013 General Fund Budget to
the CSU-Pueblo Foundation for the “On the Move” Campaign?
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of City Council.
BACKGROUND:
Colorado State University-Pueblo has embarked on a three-year, $25 million fundraising
“On the Move” campaign that will enhance facilities and grow enrollment. The
campaign will enhance scholarships, support the renovation of the student center, add
six collegiate sports, and construct a new soccer/lacrosse stadium.
The major component of the campaign is $15 million earmarked for scholarships. The
scholarship funds will help the University be competitive in attracting top students and
retaining existing students.
The University has already secured $30 million for the remodeling and renovation of the
Occhiato University Center. The campaign will raise the additional $5 million to
complete this phase.
The final $5 million raised will add six new sports programs and renovate the existing
soccer field. The additional sports programs will include men’s and women’s lacrosse,
women’s swimming/diving, men’s cross country, and men’s indoor and outdoor track.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $10,000 will be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2013 General Fund Budget to the CSU-Pueblo Foundation.
