RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND In 2003, Colorado ranked above national auto theft rates and was among the top ten states in the country for auto theft. These automobile theft statistics supported the legislation to form the Colorado Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (CATPA) to award grants to assist in improving and supporting automobile theft prevention programs or programs for the enforcement or prosecution of automobile theft crimes through statewide planning and coordination. FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no City match for the funding award. The City will receive $6,218 as its share of the $60,000 Colorado Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Grant Funds.
