TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ACCEPTING A COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC SAFETY 2013 AUTO THEFT PREVENTION PROGRAM GRANT,
ESTABLISHING PROJECT NUMBER PD1311, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING
FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,218
ISSUE
Should the City of Pueblo accept 2013 Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority
(CATPA) funding on behalf of the Police Department in an amount of $6,218?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
In 2003, Colorado ranked above national auto theft rates and was among the top ten
states in the country for auto theft. These automobile theft statistics supported the
legislation to form the Colorado Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (CATPA) to
award grants to assist in improving and supporting automobile theft prevention
programs or programs for the enforcement or prosecution of automobile theft crimes
through statewide planning and coordination.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no City match for the funding award. The City will receive $6,218 as its share
of the $60,000 Colorado Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Grant Funds.
