ISSUE
Should City Council approve a Resolution accepting the gift of a bronze sculpture
entitled “First Catch” by Marianne Caroselli from the Ken and Gala White Family and the
Doris Thomasi Foundation and approve the installation of this art piece on the north end
of the El Pomar Fountain Island in Gateway Park, HARP public lands, within the Historic
Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The HARP intergovernmental agreement directs the HARP Authority to review and
make recommendations to the City Council regarding the installation of improvements
on HARP Public Lands and maintain and insure all public improvements, including
public art within HARP, which are accepted by the City of Pueblo.
The public art installation is a single bronze sculpture entitled “First Catch” by Marianne
Caroselli, which depicts a young boy and his dog fishing. The sculpture will be installed
on the north end of the El Pomar Fountain Island within Gateway Park. The public art
project was funded by a donation from the Ken and Gala White Family and the Doris
Thomasi Foundation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There will be no direct financial impact to the City. As a partner in the HARP
Intergovernmental Agreement the City may indirectly incur cost through funding of the
Authority’s operation.
