A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF A BRONZE
STATUE OF CLARA MORSE LATSHAW FROM THE
MINERAL PALACE PARK CONSERVANCY, TO BE
LOCATED WITHIN MINERAL PALACE PARK AND
APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF SAME
WHEREAS, over the past year, the Mineral Palace Park Conservancy raised
funds through community contributions to commission a local artist to create a life size
bronze statue of Clara Morse Latshaw; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
The City of Pueblo hereby accepts the life size bronze statue of Clara Morse
Latshaw donated from the Mineral Palace Park Conservancy and approves the
installation of same in Mineral Palace Park.

Should City Council approve a Resolution accepting the gift of a life size bronze statue
of Clara Morse Latshaw from the Mineral Palace Park Conservancy and approve the
installation of this art piece within Mineral Palace Park?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Over the past year, the Mineral Palace Park Conservancy has raised funds through
contributions to the Clara Statue Project. This project consists of a life size bronze
statue of Clara Morse Latshaw, the woman for whom the lake is named and who was
instrumental in the development of Mineral Palace Park (see attached photo). The
statue will be placed in the rose garden (see attached map) and will include a donor
plaque and interpretive signage.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The entire project cost will be paid for through the contributions received by the Mineral
Palace Park Conservancy.
