INTRODUCED: February 25, 2013 BY: Sandy Daff Background Paper for Proposed R ESOLUTION DATE: February 25, 2013 AGENDA ITEM # M-2 DEPARTMENT: PARKS AND RECREATION STEVEN MEIER, INTERIM DIRECTOR TITLE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $15,000 FROM PROJECT NO. LT1011 – MINNEQUA SPRAY RECIRCULATION, TO PROJECT NO. LT0806 – POOL REPAIRS ISSUE Should City Council authorize the transfer of funds in the amount of $15,000 from Project No. LT1011 – Minnequa Spray Recirculation, to Project No. LT0806 – Pool Repairs to purchase and install a new sand filter at Bessemer Park Pool? RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND The existing high-rate sand filter at Bessemer Park Pool is well over 20 years old. The filter has far exceeded its useful life expectancy (typically 10 years) and is not expected to last another summer pool season. On January 23, 2013, the City went out for competitive bid to replace the filter. The bids returned ranging from $33,010 to $43,293. Our anticipated cost estimate prior to the bid process was $21,663; thus, the additional request to transfer $15,000 would more than cover the project expenses. FINANCIAL IMPACT Both projects are funded with Conservation Trust Funds (Lottery).
