AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT, SHO-M086-
065 (19215) BETWEEN THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, BUDGETING AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF
$480,000, ESTABLISHING CAPITAL PROJECT NO. DT1201

OAKSHIRE PROJECT, TRANSFERRING $48,000 FROM
PROJECT HUAN02 – SIGNAL/CROSSWALK UPGRADES TO

DT1201 – 1 STREET & I-25 RAMPS AND TROY &
OAKSHIRE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT
OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado, Department of Transportation, has offered

funds through Contract SHO M086-065 (19215) – 1Street & I-25 Ramps and Troy &
Oakshire Project;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The Contract between Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the State of
Colorado, for Project SHO M086-065 (19215) (hereinafter referred to as the “Contract”),
a copy of which is attached, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is
hereby approved.
SECTION 2.
Subject to encumbrances by the Colorado Department of Transportation, funds
from SHO M086-065 (19215) in the amount of $432,000 and City local match of

$48,000 or total of $480,000, are hereby budgeted and appropriated for the 1 Street &
I-25 Ramps and Troy & Oakshire Project, Project No. DT1201.
SECTION 3.
Funds in the amount of $48,000 shall be transferred from Project No. HUAN02 -
st
Signal/Crosswalk Upgrades to Project No. DT1201 - 1 Street & I-25 Ramps and Troy &
Oakshire.
SECTION 4.
The President of the City Council is authorized to execute and deliver the
Contract in the name of the City and the City Clerk is directed to affix the seal of the City
thereto and attest same.
SECTION 5.
This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage and
approval.

ISSUE
Should City Council approve a Contract between the Colorado Department of
Transportation and the City of Pueblo, budget and appropriate funds in the amount of

$480,000 for the 1 Street & I-25 Ramps and Troy & Oakshire Project, Project No.
DT1201, and authorize the President of City Council to execute same?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
The project covers intersection improvements at two locations in the City of Pueblo.

The 1 Street & I-25 Project will improve pedestrian facilities at the interchange ramps
including but not limited to sidewalks, curb ramps, pedestrian signals and will make
improvements to the center raised medians. The Troy Avenue & Oakshire Blvd. Project
will install traffic signal and associated facilities, including but not limited to, traffic signal
equipment, pedestrian facilities and pavement markings.
Federal funds in the amount of $432,000 have been made available by the
Transportation Enhancement Grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The local match is in the amount of $48,000. The total project budget is $480,000. The
project will be managed by the City of Pueblo.
FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funds in the amount of $480,000 shall be budgeted and appropriated for the 1 Street
& I-25 Ramps and Troy & Oakshire Project, Project No. DT1201. Funds in the amount
of $48,000 required as local match will be transferred from Project HUAN02 –
st
Signal/Crosswalk Upgrades to DT1201 – 1 Street & I-25 Ramps and Troy & Oakshire
Project.
