TITLE:
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE PREFERENCE OF CITY COUNCIL WITH
RESPECT TO THE APPOINTMENT OF A CITY MANAGER
ISSUE:
Should the City Council approve a Resolution designating its preference with respect to
the appointment of a City Manager?
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of the City Council.
BACKGROUND:
Recruitment for a City Manager began on June 17, 2012, following the resignation of
Jerry Pacheco as City Manager effective May 30, 2012. Fifty-four applications were
received, and City Council named three finalists on October 23. City Council conducted
formal interviews with the three finalists on November 16. This Resolution would name
the City Council’s preference with respect to the appointment of a City Manager. Once
the City has negotiated an employment agreement with this candidate, another
Resolution will be brought forth to appoint the individual and approve the employment
agreement.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Section 4-1 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo, the City Council shall fix the
City Manager’s salary at such amount as the City Council shall approve, which will be
negotiated through an employment agreement. The existing salary range for the City
Manager position is $11,870 to $14,508 per month ($142,447 to $174,102 annually).
