RESOLUTION NO. 12536
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,041,954.99 TO CORTEZ
CONSTRUCTION CO, INC., AND SETTING FORTH
$156,293.25 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK,
FOR PROJECT NO. 12-081 NSP SCATTERED SITE IN-FILL
HOUSING AND REHABILITATION PROJECT AND
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE
SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT No. 12-081 NSP Scattered Site In-Fill
Housing and Rehabilitation Project have been received and examined, and;
WHEREAS, the proposal of Cortez Construction Co., Inc. was the lowest of those
bids determined to be responsible;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for PROJECT NO. 12-081 NSP Scattered Site In-Fill Housing and
Rehabilitation Project is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $1,041,954.99.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount
as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work.
Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $156,293.25
SECTION 4.
Funds for said project are available in Fund 241 and Fund 250.

ISSUE
Should City Council award a construction contract for the abatement and demolition of six
single-family homes and the reconstruction of four single-family homes to Cortez Construction
Co. Inc. for $1,041,954.99?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
This project will consist of the abatement and demolition of reconstruction of six single-family
homes at the following addresses:
1204 Berkley 714 Acocado

and reconstruction of four single-family homes at the following addresses:
1115 Pine 1128 Pine
1535 Cypress 2004 E 6th
These properties were purchased with Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 (NSP3),
Community Development Block Grant and HOME funding. Expenditures have already been
made for pre-contract costs, purchase and maintenance of the properties
The homes will be sold to eligible homebuyers that meet the requirements of the grant, or
transferred to housing non-profits, such as Posada and Habitat for Humanity of Pueblo.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for these activities is available in the 241 and 250 Funds in the following projects and
was previously budgeted and appropriated for said purposes.
