A RESOLUTION APPOINTING WILLIAM A. MARTINEZ AS
MUNICIPAL JUDGE FOR A TWO-YEAR TERM EXPIRING
OCTOBER 26, 2014
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
William A. Martinez is hereby appointed effective October 27, 2012, as the Presiding
Municipal Judge of the Municipal Court for the City of Pueblo for a two-year term expiring on
October 26, 2014. He shall act as Municipal Court Administrator and shall supervise all
Municipal Court personnel. He shall receive compensation determined and fixed by the City
Council.
SECTION 2.
Pursuant to §11-10-201(a) of the Pueblo Municipal Code, as amended, William A.
Martinez is also appointed as the hearing officer to constitute the Medical Marijuana Licensing
Authority of the City of Pueblo.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

ISSUE
Should City Council appoint presiding judge William A. Martinez to a two-year term
expiring October 26, 2014?
BACKGROUND
The City Council by Charter is authorized to appoint municipal judges for terms of two
years. The term of Judge William A. Martinez expires October 26, 2012, and he has
requested reappointment for another two-year term as municipal judge for the City of
Pueblo.
RECOMMENDATION
This Resolution is at the request of the City Council.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Presiding Judge will receive a salary and related benefits as determined and fixed
by the City Council. These amounts will be incorporated in the annual budget.
