ISSUE
Should the City Council establish Capital Project No. SW1202, Pueblo Boulevard Drainage
Improvements Phase 2 and budget, appropriate and transfer funds in the amount of $600,000
for said project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
In 2011, the Stormwater Department completed Phase 1 Drainage Improvements on Pueblo
Boulevard from Aster Street to Azalea Street. Pueblo Boulevard Drainage Improvements Phase
2 would continue those drainage improvements from Azalea Street to Elmwood Circle. Other
than those improvements completed in 2011, there is currently no existing stormwater
infrastructure in the lower basin of Pueblo Boulevard or the surrounding area. That opens this
area up to severe flood potential for home owners and businesses. Phase 2 will consist of
approximately 1200 LF of new 48” and 42” stormwater collection system, including several
stormwater inlets, curb ramp reconstructions, and pavement millings/replacements.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
City funds have been budgeted and appropriated in the City of Pueblo’s FY 2011 budget for
SW1199, Projects To Be Determined, and FY 2012 budget for SW1299, Projects To Be
Determined. This ordinance is requesting these funds, in the amount of $272,307 to be
transferred to Capital Project SW1202, Pueblo Boulevard Drainage Improvements Phase 2, as
well as $327,693 from Stormwater Reserve Funds.
