HomeMy WebLinkAbout12421RESOLUTION NO. 12421 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING KATHLEEN HEARN AS A TEMPORARY SUBSTITUTE JUDGE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Pursuant to C.R.S. § 13-10-105(1) and Section 5-1 of the Charter, City Council hereby appoints Kathleen Hearn as a temporary substitute municipal judge effective June 1, 2012, for an indefinite period until such time as Council appoints a Presiding Municipal Judge and such Presiding Municipal Judge takes office. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be effective upon passage and approval. Eickelman, Interim Deputy City Manager TITLE: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING KATHLEEN HEARN AS A TEMPORARY SUBSTITUTE JUDGE ISSUE: Should the City Council appoint Kathleen Hearn as a temporary substitute judge due to the resignation of Municipal Judge William D. Alexander? RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of the City Council. BACKGROUND: Municipal Judge William D. Alexander has resigned effective May 31, 2012. C.R.S. § 13-10-105(1) and Section 5-1 of the Charter allows City Council to appoint substitute judges when the Municipal Judge is not available. This Resolution appoints retired Pueblo County Judge Kathleen Hearn as a temporary substitute municipal judge effective June 1, 2012, for an indefinite period until such time as Council appoints a Presiding Municipal Judge and such Presiding Municipal Judge takes office. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Judge Kathleen Hearn will be paid a daily rate for presiding over Municipal Court cases. Total salary for the month of June is estimated at approximately $10,296, which will be paid from the 2012 Municipal Court budget.
