A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $358,590.29 TO CORTEZ
CONSTRUCTION, AND SETTING FORTH $53,788.54 FOR
CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK FOR PROJECT
NO. 12-004 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION

AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE

WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT NO. 12-004 General Construction and

Rehabilitation 403-405 N. Hudson & 827 E. 4 Street, have been received and examined; and
WHEREAS, the proposal of Cortez Construction of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest of
those bids determined to be responsible; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for PROJECT NO. 12-004 General Construction and Rehabilitation 403-405
N. Hudson and 827 E. 4th Street is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of
$358,590.29.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as
stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work.
Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $53,788.54
SECTION 4.
Funds for said project are available in Fund 251.

Should City Council award a construction contract for site development of 403-405 N. Hudson

and 827 E. 4 Street, known as the Eastside Terraces multi-family project, to Cortez
Construction for $358,590.29?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
This project will consist of the rehabilitation of the final three units and the community room.
These properties were purchased under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP1). This
contract is one of the contracts to be awarded to rehabilitate the multi-family dwellings.
Expenditures have already been made for pre-contract costs, purchase and maintenance of the
properties.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
HOME money will be used for this contract and funding has been previously appropriated for
the purposes of housing development. Funding is available in the 251 Fund.
