A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $122,995.06 TO T.L. PRINTZ
CONSTRUCTORS AND SETTING FORTH $15,000 FOR
CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK, FOR PROJECT
NO. 12-046 (HU1206) NEWPORT BRIDGE DECK
REPLACEMENT, CONTINGENT UPON CITY COUNCIL
APPROVAL OF THE CREATION OF THE NEWPORT BRIDGE
DECK REPLACEMENT PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT NO. 12-046 (HU1206) NEWPORT BRIDGE DECK
REPLACEMENT have been received and examined, and;
WHEREAS, the proposal of T.L. PRINTZ CONSTRUCTORS, of Pueblo West, Colorado
was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for PROJECT NO. 12-046 (HU1206) NEWPORT BRIDGE DECK
REPLACEMENT is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $122,995.06.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
A Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount
as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work.
Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $15,000
SECTION 4.
Funds for said project shall be from Project Code HU1206 – Newport Bridge Deck
Replacement.

Should City Council award a construction contract for the NEWPORT BRIDGE DECK
REPLACEMENT to T.L. PRINTZ CONSTRUCTORS, for $122,995.06?

Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
The Newport Avenue Bridge was constructed in the mid 1970’s with concrete abutments and a
timber bridge structure. This project will replace the deteriorated timber girders and decking with
steel girders and reinforced concrete and will re-use the original abutments. It will also provide
for added safety features including raised sidewalks and guardrails.
Attached is a bid summary showing the result of competitive bids on this project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Contingent upon City Council approving the creation of the Newport Bridge Deck Replacement
Project, funds for this project are derived from the City’s FASTER allocation and will be paid
from Project Code HU1206 – Newport Bridge Deck Replacement.
