HomeMy WebLinkAbout12362RESOLUTION NO. 12362 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,100.00 FOR PROJECT NO. 12- 030 DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURE AT 624 WEST 8TH STREET (CD1113) TO DIRT N DEMO, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for Project No. 12-030 Demolition of Structure at 624 th West 8 Street (Lot 8, Block 47, County Addition) have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of Dirt N Demo, Inc., of Pueblo, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1. th A Contract for Project No. 12-030 Demolition of Structure at 624 West 8 Street is hereby awarded to Dirt N Demo, Inc., in the amount of $9,100.00. SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds Project Code CD1113 – Demolition of Unsafe Structures. TITLE A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,100.00 FOR PROJECT NO. 12-030 DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURE AT 624 WEST 8TH STREET (CD1113) TO DIRT N DEMO, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME ISSUE Should the City Council award a contract for the demolition of the structure located at th 624 West 8 Street? RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND The structure located on the property at 624 West 8th Street has been determined by the Building Official to be a dangerous building under the provisions of Chapter 13 of Title 4 of the Municipal Code. The Building Official has served the required Notice and Order to repair the structure to the owner of the property, and the property owner has failed to comply within the required time periods. Subsequently, the Building Official has issued a request for the Director of Public Works to demolish the structure. This structure has been approved for demolition by the City’s Housing and Citizen Services Department after review of historic preservation concerns. An asbestos inspection of the structure has also been conducted, and asbestos containing materials were found at this location. The work was competitively bid through the City’s Purchasing Department, and a copy of the bid summary is attached. FINANCIAL IMPACT This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds Project Code CD1113 – Demolition of Unsafe Structures.
