AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-5-16 OF
CHAPTER 5, OF TITLE VI OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO THE FY 2012 CLASSIFICATION
AND PAY PLAN
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: (brackets indicate
matter being deleted, underscore indicates matter being added)
SECTION 1.
The following line items within Section 6-5-16 of Chapter 5, of Title VI of the
Pueblo Municipal Code as amended, being the Classification and Pay Plan (2012), are
amended to read as follows:
6-5-16. Schedule, classification, work week and monthly salary.
The following shall constitute:
A. The classification and pay range for all bargaining unit employees of the City
effective January 1, 2012;
B. The classification and pay range for all non-bargaining unit employees of the City
January 1, 2012;
C. The pay range for all unclassified employees of the City effective January 1, 2012.

ISSUE
Should City Council amend the 2012 Classification and Pay Plan for the positions of
Compliance/Audit Agent, Chief WWTP Operator, Municipal Court Judge and Police
Chief?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
On December 27, 2011, City Council approved the Classification and Pay Plan for all
classified positions for the Fiscal Year 2012 by Ordinance No. 8471. The position title
of Compliance Audit Agent was inadvertently omitted from that document. This
amendment will set the pay scale for that position.
The classification of Chief WWTP Operator is being renamed to Wastewater Operator A
to establish consistency with industry standards to help alleviate recruitment difficulties.
This amendment will also increase the pay range for Municipal Court Judge and Police
Chief.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for all authorized positions has previously been appropriated for by the
approval of the 2012 Budget Ordinance. The cost of the Municipal Court Judge and
Police Chief salary increases will be offset by other salary savings in their respective
departmental budgets.
