TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT DATED MAY
14, 1956, BETWEEN PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND LOCAL NO. 47
OF THE INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE OF THEATRICAL STAGE EMPLOYEES AND
MOVING PICTURE MACHINE OPERATORS OF THE UNITED STATES AND
CANADA, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE
THE SAME
ISSUE
Should City Council approve an amendment to the May 14, 1956 Agreement providing
for a termination date of April 1, 2012?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
In 1956, the City entered into an Agreement with the Local No. 47 of the International
Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators of the
United States and Canada (“Local No. 47”) by which the City agreed, in relevant part, to
employ at least one full-time stagehand for the operation of the Memorial Hall
auditorium. The Agreement was amended in 1960 to allow the City to transfer the
employee to the Public Works Department as long as “at least one-half of the
stagehand’s schedule in any given calendar month shall be arranged so that he shall
work in the Auditorium.”
The City employs Saul Trujillo as a temporary employee as a Stagehand/Manager for
Memorial Hall. Mr. Trujillo currently works as needed in connection with functions at
Memorial Hall.
During the renovation of Memorial Hall, the City does not require the services of any
stagehands. In addition, the City staff has begun negotiations with a management and
promotion company to provide comprehensive management of Memorial Hall upon its
re-opening. It is anticipated that the management company will enter into a new and
separate agreement with Local No. 47 for the provision of stagehands to work events
and maintain the auditorium. The termination of the Agreement is not intended, nor to
be construed to signal any desire to eliminate Local No. 47’s involvement with Memorial
Hall.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None anticipated.
AMENDMENT
This Amendment to the Agreement of May 14, 1956, by and between Pueblo, a
Municipal Corporation, and Local No. 47 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage
Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators of the United States and Canada is entered
into this oil day of February, 2012 by and between Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation ( "Pueblo ")
and Local No. 47 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving
Picture Machine Operators of the United States and Canada ( "Local No. 47 "):
WHEREAS, the Agreement of May 14, 1956 provides for the employment of one full -

open until 2013;

NOW THEREFORE, the parties agree that the Agreement of May 14, 1956 shall
