HomeMy WebLinkAbout12320RESOLUTION NO. 12320 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,240 FOR PROJECT NO. 12-010 TH DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES AT 807 E 7 STREET (CD1113) TO DIRT AND DEMO, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for Project No. 12-010 Demolition of Structures at 807 th East 7 Street (Portion of Block 8, P.B.&I. Co. Addition) have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of Dirt and Demo, Inc., of Pueblo, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1. th A Contract for Project No. 12-010 Demolition of Structures at 807 East 7 Street is hereby awarded to Dirt and Demo, Inc., in the amount of $7,240. SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. Funds for this project shall be paid out of Community Development Block Grant funds (CD1113). RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND The structures located on the property at 807 East 7th Street have been determined by the Building Official to be dangerous buildings under the provisions of Chapter 13 of Title 4 of the Municipal Code. The Building Official has served the required Notice and Order to repair the structures to the owner of the property, and the property owner has failed to comply within the required time periods. Subsequently, the Building Official has issued a request for the Director of Public Works to demolish the structures. These structures have been approved for demolition by the City’s Housing and Citizen Services Department after review of historic preservation concerns. An asbestos inspection of the structures has also been conducted, and no asbestos containing materials were found at this location. The work was competitively bid through the City’s Purchasing Department, and a copy of the bid summary is attached. FINANCIAL IMPACT This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds Project Code CD1113 – Demolition of Unsafe Structures.
