TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH
SHORT ELLIOT HENDRICKSON, INC. (SEH), FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
ASSOCIATED WITH THE DILLON DRIVE/I-25 INTERCHANGE FINAL DESIGN –
PROJECT NO. 07-054 (DT0802) IN THE AMOUNT OF $176,585.76
ISSUE
Should the City Council approve an amendment (Contract Modification Order) to the
existing agreement with Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. in the amount of $176,585.76?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Currently SEH is under contract to perform the final design of the Dillon/I-25
Interchange. The preliminary design for the eastside one-way (northbound) frontage
road was to use a set of high retaining walls with an embankment sandwiched between.
It now appears that a series of bridges will be more cost effective, but will require
additional engineering costs. This Resolution will amend SEH’s contract to provide for
the bridge design fees.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City has received a grant from the Federal Highway Administration for $5.427
million to pay for the study and design of the interchange. Previous Council action’s
approved the acceptance of said grant and budgeted and appropriated the City’s
required 20 % local agency match requirement.
The additional cost for the added Engineering fees will be offset by the savings realized
during the construction phase.
