RICH GODDARD COMMUNICATIONS CENTER – MANAGER LAURA WITTRUP TITLE AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CAPITAL PROJECT NO. TC1101, NICE MULTI- MEDIA RECORDING SYSTEM UPGRADE, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $48,046 THEREFOR ISSUE Should City Council establish Capital Project No. TC1101, NICE Multi-Media Recording System Upgrade, and budget and appropriate funds in the amount of $48,046 for said project? RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Ordinance. BACKGROUND The Pueblo Police Department is in serious need of an equipment upgrade to the multi- media recording system currently used for the recording of all City of Pueblo Public Safety audio for the following reasons: The current drives being used to record the back-up audio are no longer  manufactured so if/when these drives fail, they are being replaced with rebuilt drives which also have a tendency to fail. The NICE Inform now being used is not compatible with Windows 7. Therefore,  as computers throughout the City are upgraded, they would lose the ability to access audio from the NICE system. The DVD rams that are used to back up audio have been completely phased out  and once the supply is gone, it is gone. At that point, no system would be in place to back up audio. The server that is currently housing the NICE system runs off of Windows 2003.  It has been projected that Microsoft will stop support of Windows 2003 within the next twelve (12) months or so This Ordinance will authorize upgrades to the recording system housed within the Communications Center at the Public Municipal Justice Center. FINANCIAL IMPACT The amount of $48,046 shall be budgeted and appropriated to Project No: TC1101 from the Emergency Telephone Charge Fund (E-911 Fund) reserves for said project.
