BACKGROUND
The City maintained lakes, especially Lake Clara in Mineral Palace Park, have been
problematic for over the past two decades. The lakes have regularly experienced algae
blooms that have resulted in fish kills and public odor complaints. Department has been
flushing Lake Clara on a regular basis in an effort to add more clean water in an effort to
reduce the odor. No formal lake management plan has been developed for the City
maintained lakes. This ordinance will authorize the development and implementation of
a comprehensive lake management plan. Conservation Trust Funds will be used.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Conservation Trust Funds will be used for this project.
