A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $497,125.20 TO K.R.
SWERDFEGER CONSTRUCTION, INC., AND SETTING
FORTH $100,000 FOR CONTINGENCIES, FOR THE
FY2011 SANITARY SEWER REHABILITATION PROJECT
AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO
EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, competitive bids for the Project No. 11-090 (WWAN01) FY2011
Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation have been received and examined; and
WHEREAS, the proposal of K.R. Swerdfeger Construction Inc. of Pueblo West,
Colorado was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsive;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract to replace the sanitary sewer at various sites around the City of Pueblo as
specified in the drawings, Contract Agreement for Sanitary Sewer Repair with K.R. Swerdfeger
Construction Inc. Project No. 111-090 (WWAN01) is hereby awarded to said bidder in the
$497,125.20
amount of .
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount
as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work.
Contingencies and Additional Work………$100,000
SECTION 4.
Funds for said project shall be from the Sewer User Fund.

Should the City Council award a construction contract in the amount of $497,125.20 to
K.R. Swerdfeger Construction, Inc., for the FY2011 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation
Project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The Wastewater Department maintains a priority list of deteriorating sanitary sewer
mains. All of the sites on the project were taken from this list due to their deteriorated
structural condition. To protect the public interest these mains require rehabilitation. A
bid summary sheet is attached.
The cost breakdown for the project is as follows:

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for this project will be taken from the Sewer User Fund. Funding is available
and was appropriated in the 2011 budget.
