TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF
CITIES PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNT CARD PROGRAM
ISSUE
Should City Council authorize the City of Pueblo to participate in the National League of
Cities Prescription Discount Card Program?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Because there are millions of Americans without health insurance or with limited
prescription drug coverage, the National League of Cities is sponsoring a program, in
collaboration with CVS Caremark, to provide city residents around the country with relief
from the high cost of prescription drugs by providing prescription discount cards. The
discount cards offer an average savings of 20% off the retail price of most prescription
drugs. This program has no membership fee or enrollment forms, and there are no
restrictions based on the resident’s age or income level.
Cities participating in this program will be provided with the prescription discounts cards,
marketing materials and customer support.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None. The Prescription Discount Card Program is available to National League of
Cities members at no cost.
