INTRODUCED October 11, 2011 BY: Judy Weaver COUNCILPERSON Background Paper for Proposed RESOLUTION DATE: AGENDA ITEM # R-1 October 11, 2011 DEPARTMENT: Urban Renewal Authority of Pueblo John Batey, Director Law Department Thomas J. Florczak, City Attorney TITLE A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF THE URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY OF PUEBLO, COLORADO TO THE "PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY" ISSUE Should City Council change the name of the Urban Renewal Authority of Pueblo, Colorado ("URAP") to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority? RECOMMENDATION The Board of Commissioners of URAP recommends approval. BACKGROUND The Board of Commissioners desires to change the name to be more consistent with the naming convention used by other urban renewal authorities in the state. URAP intends to relocate to a new office location in the fall of 2011. The Board believes this would be a good time to effect the name change without significant cost. However, it is noted that on October 13, 2009, after discussion at a Council Work Session, City Council did not feel there was a sufficient justification to change the name. FINANCIAL IMPACT None anticipated.
