RECOMMENDATION
Approval of Ordinance
BACKGROUND
The City’s Transportation Department worked with Corwin International Magnet School
to secure a safe routes to school grant through the Colorado Department of
Transportation to improve traffic safety near the school at 1500 Lakeview Avenue. The
safe routes to school grant program is designed to be a cooperative process between
the Municipality and the School District with a common goal of providing safe
alternatives for children walking and biking to school. The Corwin Safe Routes to
School project installs sidewalks, curb ramps, bump outs, landscaping medians, bike
racks and school zone flashers.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The grant is 100% federally funded; there is no financial impact to the City of Pueblo.
