DT1101, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING THE AMOUNT OF $132,000 THEREFORE, APPROVING A “SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL” CONTRACT NO. SAR M086-060 (18362) BETWEEN THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: The Contract between Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the State of Colorado, for the use and benefit of the State Department of Transportation for Safe Routes to School – Corwin School SAR M086-060 (18362) (hereinafter referred to as the “Contract”), a copy of which is attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. The President of City Council is authorized to execute the Contract in the name of the City and the City Clerk is directed to affix the seal of the City thereto at attest same. SECTION 2: Project No. DT1101 is hereby established in the Transportation Grants special revenue fund. The amount of $132,000 to be paid to the City pursuant to the Contract is hereby budgeted and appropriated for said project. SECTION 3: This Ordinance will become effective upon final passage and approval. SAR M086-060 (18362) BETWEEN THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME ISSUE Should City Council approve a contract with the Colorado Department of Transportation, Safe Routes to School - Corwin School SAR M086-060 (18362)? RECOMMENDATION Approval of Ordinance BACKGROUND The City’s Transportation Department worked with Corwin International Magnet School to secure a safe routes to school grant through the Colorado Department of Transportation to improve traffic safety near the school at 1500 Lakeview Avenue. The safe routes to school grant program is designed to be a cooperative process between the Municipality and the School District with a common goal of providing safe alternatives for children walking and biking to school. The Corwin Safe Routes to School project installs sidewalks, curb ramps, bump outs, landscaping medians, bike racks and school zone flashers. FINANCIAL IMPACT The grant is 100% federally funded; there is no financial impact to the City of Pueblo.
