A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN
THE AMOUNT OF $572,821 TO CORTEZ CONSTRUCTION, AND
SETTING FORTH $114,564.20 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND
ADDITIONAL WORK, FOR PROJECT NO. 11-031 EASTSIDE
TERRACES- GENERAL CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION
AT 829-833 EAST 4th STREET, AND AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT NO. 11-031 Eastside Terraces- General
Construction and Rehabilitation at 829-833 E. 4th Street have been received and examined,
and;
WHEREAS, the proposal of Cortez Construction of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest of
those bids determined to be responsible;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for PROJECT NO. 11-031 Eastside Terraces- General Construction and
Rehabilitation at 829-833 E. 4 Street be, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder in the
amount of $572,821.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
A Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount
as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work.
Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $114,564.20
SECTION 4.
Funds for said project shall be from the 251 Fund.

ISSUE
Should City Council award a construction contract for general construction and rehabilitation of
829-833 East 4th St., known as the Eastside Terraces multi-family project, to Cortez
Construction for $572,821?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
This project will consist of the general construction and rehabilitation of the Eastside Terraces
multi-family project at 829-833 East 4th St.
These properties were purchased under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP1). This
contract is one of the contracts to be awarded to rehabilitate the multi-family dwellings.
Expenditures have already been made for pre-contract costs, purchase and maintenance of the
properties.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
HOME money will be used for this contract and funding has been previously appropriated for
the purposes of housing development. Funding is available in the 251 Fund.
