HomeMy WebLinkAbout12208RESOLUTION NO. 12208 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,465 FOR PROJECT NO. 11-064 ND DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES AT 612 EAST 2 STREET (CD0929) TO COLORADO DIRT CONTRACTORS, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for Project No. 11-064 Demolition of Structures at 612 nd East 2 Street (Lots 8 & 9, Block 20, Mattices Subdivision) have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of Colorado Dirt Contractors, Inc., of Pueblo, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1. nd A Contract for Project No. 11-064 Demolition of Structures at 612 East 2 Street is hereby awarded to Colorado Dirt Contractors, Inc., in the amount of $14,465. SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. Funds for this project shall be paid out of Community Development Block Grant funds (CD0929). TITLE A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,465 FOR PROJECT NO. 11-064 DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES AT 612 EAST ND 2 STREET (CD0929) TO COLORADO DIRT CONTRACTORS, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME ISSUE Should the City Council award a contract for the demolition of the structure located at nd 612 East 2 Street? RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND nd The structure located on the property at 612 East 2 Street (Lots 8 & 9, Block 20, Mattices Subdivision) has been determined by the Building Official to be a dangerous building under the provisions of Chapter 13 of Title 4 of the Municipal Code. The Building Official has served the required Notice and Order to repair the structure to the owner of the property, and the property owner has failed to comply within the required time periods. Subsequently, the Building Official has issued a request for the Director of Public Works to demolish the structure. This structure has been approved for demolition by the City’s Housing and Citizen Services Department after review of historic preservation concerns. An asbestos inspection of the structure has also been conducted, and asbestos materials were found at this location. The work was competitively bid through the City’s Purchasing Department, and a copy of the bid summary is attached. FINANCIAL IMPACT This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds Project Code CD0929 – Demolition of Unsafe Structures.
