AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING
FUNDING SUPPORTING THE MEMORANDUM OF
AGREEMENT BETWEEN PUEBLO SCHOOL DISTRICT 60
AND THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION, ON BEHALF OF THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo has the authority on behalf of the City of
Pueblo, including its Police Department, to accept funding for public and municipal
purposes, and
WHEREAS, a Colorado Incentive Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has tendered and the City of Pueblo has by
Ordinance on May 23, 2011 accepted the 2010 Colorado Prevention Partnership for
Success (CPPS) funding, in the amount of $62,400 to the City of Pueblo Police
Department, through Pueblo School District 60;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Project Number PD1102, Colorado Prevention Partnership for Success (CPPS),
is hereby established, and the amount of $62,400 is budgeted and appropriated
therefore.
SECTION 2.
The Grant Award Funds shall only be expended and used for the Program, and
shall be so obligated and expended by September 30, 2012.
SECTION 3.
This Ordinance shall become effective upon final passage and approval.

ISSUE
Should the City budget and appropriate the amount of $62,400 following the guidelines
outlined in the Memorandum of Agreement relating to partnering with Pueblo School
District 60 on a Colorado Incentive Grant entitled “Colorado Prevention Partnership for
Success (CPPS)”?
RECOMMENDATION
The Police Department recommends approval of this Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
This Memorandum of Agreement with Pueblo School District 60 was approved by City
Council on May 23, 2011. The Ordinance did not contain language to budget and
appropriate for this Memorandum of Agreement. The total amount of the grant is
$62,400.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no City match required for this grant. Pueblo School District 60 will pay to the
City annually an amount not to exceed $62,400 as listed in Section V of the MOA.
