CODE RELATING TO PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
RECOMMENDATIONS TO CITY COUNCIL
ISSUE
Should the City Council amend Chapter 5 of Title XII and Chapter 6 of Title XVII of the
Pueblo Municipal Code relating to Planning and Zoning Commission recommendations
to City Council?
RECOMMENDATION
The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their March 9, 2011 Regular Meeting, voted
5-0 to recommend approval.
BACKGROUND
Currently, the Pueblo Municipal Code requires that the recommendation of the Planning
and Zoning Commission be forwarded to City Council within 30 days for a vacation and
60 days for rezonings and text amendments. The proposed Ordinance will extend the
amount of time that applicants and staff have to forward the Commission’s
recommendation to City Council by giving applicants 180 days to provide the necessary
documents to Planning Staff. Planning Staff will then have 30 days to forward the
Commission’s recommendation to City Council. Upon receipt of a letter of request, and
for good cause shown, the Administrative Official may grant a 90-day extension for the
applicant to provide the necessary documents.
