RESOLUTION NO. 12063
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $89,000 TO DIAZ CONSTRUCTION
GROUP LLC, FOR THE NATURE CENTER LIFTSTATION
REHABILITATION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, competitive bids for the Project No. 11-002 (WWAN01) Nature Center
Liftstation Rehabilitation have been received and examined, and;
WHEREAS the proposal of Diaz Construction Group LLC. of Denver, Colorado was the
lowest of those bids determined to be responsive;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract to rehabilitate the Liftstation at the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo, Inc.,
as specified in the drawings, Contract Agreement for Sanitary Sewer Repair with Diaz
Construction Group LLC. (Project No. 11-002; WWAN01) be, and the same is hereby awarded
$89,000
to said bidder in the amount of .
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
A Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
Funds for said project shall be from the Sewer User Fund.

ISSUE
Should the City Council award a construction contract in the amount of $89,000 to Diaz
Construction Group LLC, for the Nature Center Liftstation Rehabilitation Project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Contemporaneous with this Resolution is Resolution for approval of an amendment to the City’s
agreement with the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo, Inc., to maintain the onsite Sanitary
Sewer System. In the summer of 2010 the Nature Center’s sewer lift station failed. The
Wastewater Department repaired it temporarily, then evaluated the lift station and determined
that it needed more extensive rehabilitation beyond the temporary fix performed that summer. It
is very important that this lift station be rehabilitated to protect the public’s health and safety. A
bid summary sheet is attached.
The cost breakdown for the project is as follows:
Liftstation and Restaurant Service Line:
SUBTOTAL: $71,000.00
Alternate #1: Force Main Replacement
SUBTOTAL: $18,000.00
TOTAL: $89,000.00
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for this project will be taken from the Sewer User Fund, Project Number 11-002
(WWAN01). Funding is available and was appropriated in the 2011 budget.
