Webb Christopher Markuson INTRODUCED: December 13, 2010 BY: Leroy Garcia COUNCILPERSON Background Paper for Proposed RESOLUTION DATE: DECEMBER 13, 2010 AGENDA ITEM # Q-4 DEPARTMENT: GINA DUTCHER, MMC CITY CLERK TITLE A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION ISSUE Should City Council appoint three members to the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) for four-year terms expiring January 1, 2015? RECOMMENDATION Approval of Resolution BACKGROUND Due to term expirations of Commission Members Tanya Jones, Kerrelyn Trent and Gary Trujillo, there are three appointments to be filled on the Historic Preservation Commission. These appointments are for four-year terms expiring January 1, 2015. Due to term limits, Gary Trujillo and Kerrelyn Trent are not eligible for reappointment. Incumbent Commission Member Tanya Jones has indicated she does wish to be considered for reappointment. Ms. Jones was first appointed to the Commission in 2007. Following a Public Notice published in The Pueblo Chieftain on Sunday, November 14, 2010, seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: Tanya R. Jones (INCUMBENT), Resident of the City of Pueblo David R.G. Webb (NEW), Resident of the City of Pueblo Eva E. Montoya (NEW), Resident of the City of Pueblo Christopher Markuson (NEW), Resident of the City of Pueblo FINANCIAL IMPACT This a volunteer committee, and members serve without compensation.
