A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN
THE AMOUNT OF $30,000 FOR THE DEMOLITION OF 1501
EAST BEECH STREET (CD0720 & CD0929) TO AMERICAN
DEMOLITION, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING
AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for Demolition of 1501 East Beech Street have been
received and examined; and
WHEREAS, the proposal of American Demolition, Inc., of Denver, Colorado, was
the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO,
COLORADO, that:
SECTION 1.
A Contract for Demolition of 1501 East Beech Street be, and the same is hereby
awarded to American Demolition, Inc., in the amount of $30,000.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent be, and she is hereby authorized to execute said contract
on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of
the City thereto and attest the same.
SECTION 3.
Funds for this project shall be paid out of Community Development Block Grant
funds (CD0720 & CD0929).

Should the City Council award a contract for the demolition of the structure located at
1501 East Beech Street?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
The structure located on the property at 1501 East Beech Street has been determined
by the Building Official to be a dangerous building under the provisions of Chapter 13 of
Title 4 of the Municipal Code. The Building Official has served the required Notice and
Order to repair the structure to the owner of the property, and the property owner has
failed to comply within the required time periods. Subsequently, the Building Official
has issued a request for the Director of Public Works to demolish the structure. This
structure has been approved for demolition by the City’s Housing and Citizen Services
Department after review of historic preservation concerns. An asbestos inspection of
the structure has also been conducted, and asbestos materials are present at this
location.
The work was competitively bid through the City’s Purchasing Department, and a copy
of the bid summary is attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds
(CD0720 &CD0929).
