PACHECO, DIRECTOR TITLE AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF NUCKOLLS AVENUE TO BOY SCOUT WAY ISSUE Shall City Council approve a request to change the name of a 214-foot portion of Nuckolls Avenue to Boy Scout Way? RECOMMENDATION The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their September 8, 2010 Regular Meeting, voted 6-0 to recommend approval. BACKGROUND The Rocky Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America originally requested to rename a portion of Nuckolls Avenue to Boy Scout Road. The name Boy Scout Way was suggested and agreed to by the applicant at the Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting. Nuckolls Avenue runs west from Veta Avenue through City Park and terminates west of South Pueblo Boulevard where it intersects with Park Drive. The Boy Scouts of America office is located south of Nuckolls Avenue but is accessed off of Park Drive and addressed off of South Pueblo Boulevard. They are requesting the name change because it would assist visitors in locating the office. This portion of Nuckolls Avenue is approximately 214-feet long and is sandwiched between South Pueblo Boulevard and Park Drive. No properties are addressed off of this section of Nuckolls; therefore a street name change will not have any negative effects on property owners. FINANCIAL IMPACT None.
